Righetti Named Compliance Officer for Laker Athletics

Lake Superior State Athletics has named Laker Alum, Ricco Righetti, as the department’s new full-time compliance officer. Righetti was hired as a part-time compliance assistant in November, 2017.Rico Righetti

As the Lakers’ compliance officer, Righetti will be responsible for ensuring the department’s adherence to both conference and NCAA policies, rules, regulations and procedures. He will also lead opponent relations efforts and assist with game day logistics.

“I am very grateful to (LSSU Director of Athletics, Dr. David Paitson) for giving me an opportunity to continue my career here at Lake State,” said Righetti. “After nine years of experience in college athletics I’m excited to return to my alma mater as the department’s compliance officer.”

Righetti, a native of East Tawas, Mich., is a 2012 graduate of LSSU where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Marketing. Righetti served as a student assistant with Laker athletics throughout his four years as an undergrad (2008-12) where he assisted with event management, game day operations and compliance duties.

In 2013, Rigehtti completed a year-long internship in the Michigan State University Athletics Ticket Office where he was trained in all facets of ticketing operations including reconciliation, database management and customer service.

After completing his internship at MSU, Righetti served the next two years (2015-17) at University of Tulsa Athletics Department where he worked as a Graduate Assistant for Facilities. His key responsibilities included being a diplomatic liaison for special events, troubleshooting Daktronic video/scoreboard problems, and event logistics.

Righetti completed his Master’s Degree in Business Administration degree in May, 2017.

Cullen graduated from Central Michigan University in 2016 with B.A.A in Integrative Public Relations and Sport Management. Prior to joining LSSU as the Athletic Communications Director in November, Cullen was an athletic communications assistant at Cornerstone University and spent four years as a student assistant in CMU Athletic Communications Department. In his spare time, Cullen enjoys hiking, backpacking, kayaking and mountain biking.
