LSSU Students Earn Regional Recognition in Fisheries and Wildlife

Lake Superior State University Lakers are making their mark far beyond campus, earning recognition for their work in fisheries and wildlife at the regional level.

At a recent professional conference, students in the Fisheries and Wildlife program delivered an impressive showing, showcasing research, field experience, and technical expertise developed through LSSU’s hands-on approach to learning. Their success reflects the strength of a program deeply connected to the surrounding environment and resources of the Great Lakes.

In addition to individual achievements, the LSSU Fisheries and Wildlife Club received the Most Active Student Subunit Award from the American Fisheries Society Northcentral Division. This recognition highlights the club’s consistent, engaging programming and contributions to the field, both on and off campus.

Through real fieldwork, research opportunities, and professional involvement, Lakers are gaining real-world experience while building connections in the industry. Lake State’s coursework prepares them to make an impact in careers focused on conservation, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.
