Enjoying what has become an annual graduation tradition, a group of alumni were the guests in the home of LSSU president Dr. Rodney Hanley for a pre-Commencement ceremony. New members were inducted into the Golden Graduate Society, which is open to any alumni who graduated at least 50 years ago. The honored class and those attending the reunion for the first time were presented a commemorative medallion as a remembrance of this significant personal anniversary. A majority of its members attended Lake State when it was the Sault Branch of the Michigan College of Mining and Technological/Michigan Technological University between 1946 and 1964.
Many Golden Grads have celebrated being a pioneer of the University with a gift to support the scholarship fund they established in 2015. With the fund now approaching $25,000, the scholarship is nearing full endowment status.
