Great Lake State Weekend 2024: A Celebration to Remember

Great Lake State Weekend (GLSW) 2024 brought Lakers past, present, and future together on October 18-19 for an unforgettable campus-wide celebration at Lake Superior State University. The weekend bustled with activity as the community came together to enjoy a variety of events, honoring traditions and creating new memories.

A highlight of the weekend was the sold-out Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony, recognizing six outstanding Lakers. Alumni Award recipients Jeanna Trotman ’12, Steve Davies ’77, and Dr. Stephen Mulholland ’83 were celebrated for their remarkable achievements, while Athletic Hall of Fame inductees Keith Aldridge ’96, Eric Menk ’96, and Chris Nance ’96 were honored for their contributions to Laker sports. The ceremony, a centerpiece of GLSW, is now available to view online.

The festivities didn’t stop there! The LSSU campus was alive with activities, including the Lakers hockey games against Stonehill College, a 20th-anniversary open house for the Arts Center sponsored by the LSSU Foundation Board, the Kinesiology Club’s traditional 5K Fun Run, and the ever-popular oozeball tournament. Families enjoyed the pre-game Board of Trustees Tailgate Party featuring free food, drinks, games, a photo booth, face painting, bouncy houses, and more.

Great Lake State Weekend is a celebration for all ages, welcoming alumni, students, parents, and friends to reconnect with the LSSU community. Mark your calendars for GLSW 2025, tentatively set for mid-October, and prepare for another weekend filled with fun, friendship, and Laker pride.
