Denise Hart ’74, celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband, John, on August 10th, 2024. The couple enjoyed a family dinner with their four children and five grandchildren.
Michael ’72 and Lisa ’97 McDonald traveled to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada with Road Scholars Tours to study the effect of climate change on polar bears. During the trip they stayed at the Churchill Northern Studies Center. Mike is retired from the 91st District Court and Lisa from teaching.
Christine McCready ’79, retired from her position at Union Terminal Piers, the parent company of the Arnold Transit Company, in 2013. She has since moved to Cheboygan from Mackinac Island and works for Sheplers Ferry in Mackinaw City during the summers. Christine remains an active member of the LSSU community.
Brian Olszewski ’84, was recently re-elected as Treasurer of the Board of Directors for the East Jordan Family Health Center. He is currently employed as the Chief Financial Officer of East Jordan Public Schools, and has been serving the district for 26 years.

Nevin Buconjic ’94, recently stepped down as President of the non-profit StartUP Sault Ste Marie after a decade of service. The organization, founded by Nevin, connects local entrepreneurs with the tools and support they need to be successful. Nevin received both the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Award and the 2024 Community Builders Award for Economic Development in Sault, ON, for his volunteer work and dedication to the entrepreneurs and community of Sault, ON.

Michael Maycroft ’95, was recently promoted to Deputy Chief of Administrative and Investigative Services for the Grand Rapids Police Department.

Jennie Sweet-Cushman ’98, was promoted to full-time Professor of Political Science at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Amanda Tanner ’91, accepted a full-time Assistant Professor position at the University of the Cumberlands. She teaches doctoral courses in the Plaster School of Business, including a dissertation cohort.

Jennifer Donner ’02, accepted a new position as the Library Director/Department Head of the Lydia M. Olson Library at Northern Michigan University in August 2023.

Gregg Ginebaugh ’09, retired from his position as the Chief of the Delta Township Fire Department on September 13, 2024, after a thirty-year career, five of which he served in Delta Township.

Lucas Otten ’05, was named Vice President of Information Security and Chief Information Security Officer at Aspirus Health of Wausau, WI. Aspirus is a health system spanning 18 hospitals and over 120 clinics in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan’s Western U.P.
Zack Shield ’17, recently married Tucker Shield in Grand Rapids in April 2024.
