Mike Andrews Selected as LSSU Men's and Women's Tennis Coach

Mike Andrews has been selected as the next head coach of the Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's and women's tennis programs, as announced by LSSU Athletic Director Tory Lindley on Thursday.

Originally from Iron Mountain, Mich. in the Upper Peninsula, Andrews played No. 1 singles and doubles at the collegiate level at LSSU, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in recreation management with a minor in business. He is certified by the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) for both tennis and pickleball and brings with him over 25 years of experience in the racquet industry. Read more here



Laker Men's Basketball Sweeps GLIAC Weekly Awards - Soper named Defensive Player of the Week for 3 Consecutive Weeks


Sault Ste Marie, MI -- Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and Hunter Soper (Lexington, Mich.) were recognized as the GLIAC's Men's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office. Monday, November 18th.
Edmondson shot the lights out in the Lakers' 96-94 victory over UIndy on Friday, finishing the day with a career-high 33 points while shooting 69% from the floor, including hitting on 7 of his 9 attempts from beyond the arc. Soper's defensive effort proved crucial in the Lakers' win against UIndy, denying the Greyhounds on several occasions with a pair of steals and two blocks all while playing strong defense throughout the entirety of the game to hold UIndy to only 24 points in the paint.

As of November 25, 2024, Soper was named Defensive Player of the Week again, for a two-week consecutive recognition. As of December 1, 2024, he was selected for the third consecutive time. Read more here

Clare Conzelmann of Frankenmuth High School Commits to LSSU


FRANKENMUTH, Mich. - One of Frankenmuth High School's leaders on the basketball is Sault Ste. Marie-bound after signing to play for the Lakers. Clare Conzelmann has proven herself a force to be reckoned with during her time as a Frankenmuth Eagle, helping take her team to the state championships in 2022. Clare was named Captain of her team last year and decided on LSSU after visiting the campus for practice.
