Michigan Gamma Chapter - Exciting Update!

Our Michigan Gamma Chapter has earned Notable Chapter Status from the national AX organization! Here's how we did it:

Student Nominations: Congrats to Aaron Nachazel (School of Math & CS, Secondary Math BS) for being nominated for a national scholarship!

National Convention: Aaron and Dr. Joni Lindsey attended, with Aaron presenting his award-winning research: “Investigation of Prioritization and Self-Efficacy in Math 112.”

Hands-On Learning at the Barch Center for Freshwater Research and Education

Empowering the next generation of fisheries scientists! Over 35 students had the incredible opportunity to collect Atlantic salmon returning to the St. Marys River, ensuring a future for this iconic species at the CFRE Fish Hatchery. Hands-on experience, teamwork, and conservation in action – we’re spawning change for the rivers and ecosystems we cherish!

LSSU Engineering Students Tour the Soo Locks

Earlier this semester, LSSU's Introduction to Engineering students were invited on a behind-the-scenes tour of the historical and fully functional Soo Locks.

The tour was hosted by the Detroit District Army Corp of Engineers. Students donned safety helmets and vests as they got an up-close and personal view of the locks and their mechanisms.
