Laker Licence Plate

Greetings Fellow Lakers!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that your new year is starting out well. Over the holiday season, my husband and I decided to purchase a new vehicle, during which we chose to opt for the Lake Superior State University fundraiser addition to our new license plate. I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to showcase my love to mine and my husband’s alma mater.

For anyone who is unfamiliar with the Michigan fundraiser license plates, the State of Michigan offers several options for organizations to support via your vehicle registration and license plate renewal every year. For $35 you can order a license plate with the LSSU anchor and from this, Lake State earns $25. Each year following that you choose to renew your specialty fundraiser plate, the university earns an additional amount.

In addition to being an easy way to help your alma mater earn extra funds, these license plates are a great way to show your pride for your school and to meet other students and alumni. I have had a Laker license plate on my vehicle for several years now and have had numerous times when people have commented on my plate, asking me about Lake State, reminiscing about their times at university and enjoying the mutual bond between alumni.

While traveling, my husband and I always enjoy watching for others who have the Laker logo on their plate. Trips to the east coast, Canada, Wisconsin and southern Michigan have all led us to find other Lakers with whom we could strike a conversation. I encourage anyone looking to get a new license plate to inquire about the Lake Superior State University addition to their plate. It’s an easy way to show support for your school while encouraging networking and camaraderie amongst fellow alumni.
