Denis Hayner ’58, Bellingham, WA, retired from General Electric Aircraft Engines in Massachusettes in March of 1998, and has since lived in northwest Washington.
Eva Brosco ’72, Ann Arbor, has retired after a 52 year career in Anatomic Pathology. Throughout her career, Eva has worked at War Memorial Hospital in Sault Ste Marie, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor Veteran’s Hospital, and U of M. She says, “I believe growing up in that small town, encouraged by the laboratory staff at War Memorial and faculty at LSSU, instilled in me a moral code of values that guided my career dedication.” Despite her retirement, she remains available for consulting.

Ray Rigel ’77, Marana, is traveling the world while enjoying fly fishing, skiing, kayaking, and fine wine.

Boyd Byelich ’87, Rogers City, shared the holiday spirit with Ukrainian refugees in Vinnytsia as part of his One Box for Ukraine initiative, during which he spent months collecting funds and goods to distribute to refugees in need.

Mike Dorn ’83, Alpena, retired from Wayne Wire Cloth on January 31, 2023 after a 39 year career with the company.
Robin Keeney ’80, Howell, will be retiring in May 2023 following 43 years of working as a Registered Nurse. She has worked in NICUs at various hospitals across the country, though she’s spent the majority of her time at U of M’s Mott Hospital.
Bryan Schultz ’83, Madison, SD, retired from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on January 31, 2023 after 35 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he served as the Station Manager at Madison Wetland Management District in South Dakota.
Scott Tolentino ’87, Hyde Park, UT, retired from the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources on January 1, 2023 after over 30 years as a Fisheries Biologist & Bear Lake Project Leader. He is a recognized authority on the three endemic whitefish found in Bear Lake and the Bear Lake Bonneville cutthroat trout, and has published peer-reviewed research articles and reports on these fish in both domestic and international journals. He was recognized by the Utah Chapter of the America Fisheries Society with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2022.
Jana Wallace ’82, Grand Rapids, was recently elected to the Festival of the Arts in Grand Rapids Board of Directors following her July 2020 retirement. Over the span of 30 years, Jana served as the city’s Debt and Authority Finance Officer, volunteered at the Festival of the Arts, and served on a county finance committee.

Jason Bingaman ’94, Three Rivers, a former LSSU Wrestler, was announced as one of the 2023 Jim Koch Division II Wrestling Hall of Fame inductees. He was previously inducted into the LSSU Hall of Fame in 2005. The Jim Koch Hall of Fame Class of 2023 will be inducted at the NWCA Convention on July 28, 2023 at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.

Renee Jent ’95, Williamston, was promoted to Senior Claims Consultant at Coverys Inc. following 11 years of experience in the fields of medical professional liability and lawyers professional liability claims. She is also a certified paralegal and member of the Legal Assistant/Paralegal Section of the Bar of Michigan.

Adrian Karr ’98, Petoskey, was promoted to Director of the Petoskey Department of Public Safety in February 2023. He had been serving as the interim director since the retirement of the previous director.

Jerry Drennan ’03, Sylvania, OH, was promoted to Senior Member Technology Staff at First Solar in Toledo, OH, a global provider of solar technology. Jerry leads process development efforts to improve solar module performance and develops new processes and materials to improve company product. He has worked for First Solar for nearly 16 years, and began his career at the company as a materials engineer.

Robyn Hungerford ’03, Sault Ste Marie, received the Realtor of the Year award for 2022 from the EUP Board of Realtors. Robyn was also able to attend the Michigan Realtor’s Convention in Grand Rapids.

Eden LaTulip ’20, Austin, TX, is a Manufacturing Controls Development Engineer at Tesla, and she was recently elected as President of Women in Tesla.
Nicole Long ’02, Sault Ste Marie, is working as a certified nurse for Superior Support Health Systems.
Bridgett Sorenson ’02, St. Ignace, was selected to serve as a member of the first U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Tribal Intergovernmental Advisory Committee (TIAC). She is currently part of the Board of Directors of the Sault Tribe and is the Chair of the Sault Tribe Housing Commission.
Lisa Synett ’01, Lombard, IL, is celebrating 10 years at the Codilis & Associates, P.C. foreclosure law firm as the Supervisor of the File Opening Department.

Maria Blazejewski ’13, Beulah, received the Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for her excellent performance in a recent game against Helios. She is considered a top player on her team, Troistorrents, in the Swiss SBL.

Stephen Butzin ’17, Hale, is a DNR officer who aided in the rescue of a Rapid River man from a house fire earlier this year. In January of 2018, he was presented with an award following quick action during a snowmobiling accident which resulted in the survival of both persons involved.

Brandon Cross ’16, Grand Rapids, recently joined the Warner Norcross and Judd law firm after being admitted to the State Bar of Michigan.

Kalie Gascho ’14, Lowell, has been named as the next Probate Register of the Kent County Probate Court. She currently serves as the Board Liaison for the Kent County Board of Commissioners, and has a history as a law clerk and Attorney Magistrate.

Huntter Smith ’19, Lyons, NY, has begun working for Midland Asphalt Materials Inc. as an Asphalt Chemist.
Andrea Tillman ’16, Cadillac, created Purses with a Purpose in 2019 to provide survivors of abuse at shelters with basic necessities. The initiative has since spread state-wide and is hosted by the Michigan State Police.
