Lakers Compete at MSU Spartan Invitational


The Lake Superior State University track and field program competed at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational on Friday, March 31. The Lakers battled inclement weather on their way to a solid outing to open up the outdoor season, highlighted by Jenna Fleming's 11th career first place performance in the javelin throw with a distance of 42.34 meters, besting six NCAA Division I throwers. Laker Men's and Women's Golf Have Strong Outings at Klash in Kentucky


The Lake Superior State men's and women's golf programs competed at the Klash in Kentucky over the weekend of March 25 and 26.

The men's team were able to secure a third place finish overall after being led by Marko Banic who was able to shoot a consistent three over par in both rounds to finish tied for third on the individual leaderboard. Marie Mathieu paced the women's team on her way to a top-10 finish individually, shooting for a two-day total of 167, and Julia Vess was not far behind, placing 12th overall after a five-stroke improvement on day two. Velasco's Fourth Match-Clinching Victory Helps Lakers Fend Off Huskies


The Lake Superior State University men's tennis program earned a 4-3 victory over the Michigan Tech Huskies to open conference play on Sunday, March 19. The Lakers got off to a hot start in doubles play as Xavier Vicent Navarro and Lluc Limongi Ollers raced out to a 6-2 victory at the No. 3 doubles spot to give their team an early advantage. Boudon Named to the All-CCHA Second Team for the Second Time in His Career


Senior captain, Louis Boudon, has been named to the All-CCHA Second Team for the second time in his career, as announced by the conference office on March 14. Boudon, the fourth LSSU multi-year captain in program history, finished the season leading his team in points with 24 (10G, 14A; 6G, 10A in CCHA play), and he earned the 100th point of his career in a 3-2 come-from-behind victory at Bemidji State in overtime, assisting on all three Laker goals in the contest. Bradford Named GLIAC Freshman of the Year; Rayman All-GLIAC Second Team


Grace Bradford has been named the 2023 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Freshman of the Year. In addition, Mattison Rayman was selected to the All-GLIAC Second Team, as voted on by the coaches. Read more.

Caden Ebeling and Kemon Bassett have each been named to the All-GLIAC First Team, and C.J. Robinson was named to his second-consecutive GLIAC All-Defensive Team, as voted on by the coaches. Read more.
