Kenneth Albone ’78, recently retired from his job as an Associate Professor at Rowan University in Glassboro, NJ. He was well-liked by his students for being an entertaining teacher who set clear and reasonable standards for his students’ work.

Jim Fallis ’74, visited the pyramids in Giza, Egypt in February of this year, including the Sphinx and the Great Pyramid.

Kathy Pelleran-Mahoney ’78, ran as the Democratic nominee for the Michigan State Representative position in the 102nd District on Michigan’s west shore in Manistee, Mason, Muskegon, and Oceana counties. While she did not prevail, she ran a strong campaign with friends, family, and community members supporting her.

Christopher Nelson ’82, retired from a great career with internet company Viasat on November 29, 2025. he has since relocated back to Bath, MI.

Tymberlee (Botke) Goff ’98, was named 2023-2024 Employee of the Year at Sault Ste Marie Area Public Schools. She currently works as a Maintenance and Transportation Administrative Assistant.

Brian Gronda ’92, recently retired from MIOSHA after nearly 20 years of service as a Construction Safety Inspector. He has since moved to the Bay City area and plans to enjoy his retirement fishing in the Saginaw Bay and spending time with family.

Dr. Robert Sroufe ’92, was recognized on the “Top 2% of Scientists” Project for his scholarly contributions to business management, environmental science, and economics. Currently a professor of sustainability in the Falk School of Sustainability & Environment, Robert teaches at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA.

Reggie Madeline ’00, was recognized by the Detroit Pistons as the First Responder of the Game on February 5th. Reg began his career with Imlay City Fire Department in 1997, then earned a degree in Criminal Justice from LSSU before going on to serve as a detective and fire marshal in the public safety department for the city of Farmington for over 20 years. He is currently the Fire Chief at the Lyon Township Fire Department.
Ashley (Skiera) Simpson ’07, returned to LSSU as a guest speaker in Dr. Schaefer’s CJUS 341 Fire Cause/Arson Investigation class. Simpson, now a Special Sergeant for the Michigan State Police, shared her experience as a Fire Investigator.
Sharmay Wood ’07, earned the position of Associate Provost for Student Support and Services, as well as the Dean of Students at Georgian Court University. located in Lakewood, NJ. She previously worked as the Associate Director turned Director of Campus Life at LSSU from 2009-2021, then as the Associate Dean of Student Affairs until her career led her to Georgian Court in 2023.
Kimberlee (Booms) McClure ’11, and Gregory McClure ’10 welcomed their second and third children on January 7th, 2025. The new twins, Brayden and Bennie, were welcomed by Kimberlee, Gregory, and big sister Millie.

Grace Riemer ’15, began her wholesale coffee roasting company Boom Town Roasters in 2022. As of September 2024, her company has acquired property and expanded to include one of Northern Michigan’s first anime-themed cafés called Wok ‘n’ Otaku. The café is located in Alpena, MI.
Fred Williams ’12, was featured in the Sault Evening News discussing his passion for athletics and academics to inspire students. After earning his PhD, Fred returned to LSSU as a professor and now encourages students to explore beyond their comfort zones in pursuit of their futures.

Taylor Gross ’24, received the DEIJB Travel Award from the Michigan Chapter of the American Fisheries Society for their work with LSSU’s Fisheries and Wildlife Club and the MIAFS Executive Committee.
