Bill Sproule ’68, Brighton, Just released a new book titled: “Michigan Tech Hockey: 100 Years of Memories.” The book explores the 100 years of Michigan Tech hockey that have created many memories for teams, players, coaches, students, alumni, and the community who have followed the Huskies. Summaries of each year and information on teams, coaches, players, awards, arenas, the Great Lakes Invitational, Winter Carnival, and the fans are included. Karen Gordon ‘ 89, Belleville, was hired as Chief Financial Officer for St. Vincent and Sarah Fisher Center.
John Flesher ’83, Corunna, ON, after retiring from a 30 year career with the Ontario Provincial Police, John completed his Master of Arts in Counselling. After 5 years at a federally accredited agency, he is now in private practice as a Registered Psychotherapist in Sarnia, Ontario at Personal Growth & Wellness Centre helping first responders to achieve post traumatic growth.
Rev. Ben Paris ’83, Manistique, Currently serving as Pastor at St. Francis de Sales Parish, Manistique and the Divine Infant of Prague Mission in Gulliver. Also serving on the Manistique Volunteer Fire Department and Doyle Township Volunteer Fire Department/First Responders (just got recertified as a Medical First Responder). In his spare time, he’s in a band with some friends (known as “The Grand Design”).
Pat Parker ’83, Traverse City, Fire Chief Pat Parker of the Grand Traverse Metro Fire Department in Traverse City was elected the President of the Great Lakes Division (MI, OH, IN, IL, WI, MN) of the International Association of Fire Chiefs.
Rita Gordon, ’93, Belleville, has been appointed Senior Director of Business Affairs with the College of Engineering at Wayne State University. She oversees an extensive portfolio including strategic planning initiatives, human resources, finances, and research/grant administration.

Brittany Clone ’09, Peoria, IL, was promoted be a Senior Commercial Credit Analyst with a specialty in Agriculture at Morton Community Bank.
Matthew Smith ’00, Muskegon, In September 2019 was promoted to the position of Lieutenant (jail administrator) of Muskegon County Sheriff’s Office.
Shelby Wagensomer ’16, Suffolk, VA, after their time at Lake State they started a career at the Dollar Tree Stores corporate office in Chesapeake, VA. They have since worked there for the last 5 1/2 years in various roles from Talent Acquisition Specialist, Exception Based Reporting Analyst, Finance Analyst to their current role which they were just promoted to Manager of Asset Protection Budget & Forecasting. Shelby would like to thank their Lake State family for providing them with their finance degree and education as that’s helped them get to where they are today.
