Lady Lakers Making Waves in Women’s Hockey

The second season for the Lady Lakers started off fast and exciting. The Lakers traveled to NMU to capture a weekend sweep of the Cats. The Lakers would go on to rattle off 15 wins in a row losing just one game in the first half of the season. Key wins in the first half sent waves through the national rankings as the ladies swept Adrian College, Bowling Green State, Central Michigan, Liberty University and Concordia Ann Arbor (DI). The Lakers would eventually capture the #1 ranking nationally.

The Lakers would come back from semester break and carry the early season successes into the second half as the Lakers would go on to sweep Michigan State, Notre Dame and Loyola University-Chicago marching their way to the CCWHA league playoffs. Sweeping four games in the league tournament the Lakers captured their first ever CCWHA league championship in school history.
