Outdoor Donation Requests for Seamore's Annex

LSSU Hat
Austin Heslinga, President of the Lake Superior State University Fisheries and Wildlife Club

During the fall semester, it came to our attention that many students face financial hardship and can not afford the appropriate gear to enjoy the outdoors. We want to make sure that everyone can access our incredible natural resources- snow, rain, or shine. To help, we worked with Seamore’s Closet on campus and have created Seamore’s Annex, which is a collection of clothing that’s offered for FREE to students that cannot afford the clothing necessary for the weather conditions. Seamore’s Annex will allow all students to get out and enjoy the outdoors in the Eastern Upper Peninsula and beyond, and create important connections and memories during their time at LSSU.

Now, we need your help. We’re reaching out to businesses, alumni, community members, and LSSU staff and students for donations to begin Seamore’s Annex and create a closet that’s available for students. We’re asking for any new or gently used outdoor clothing. Specifically, we need rain jackets, winter coats for outdoor activities, rubber boots, hiking boots, and warm gloves. If you have new or gently used items to contribute, please email me (Austin Heslinga, [email protected]) or drop donations off in the common room of Laker Hall (See schedule for drop off times).

If you have any questions, or ideas to increase our donations for Seamore’s Annex, please feel free contact me by email ([email protected]) or our club advisor Dr. Moerke ([email protected]).
