All Sports Returning To Action
Laker student-athletes have been fortunate to have the opportunity to compete during the 2020-21 academic yearResponding to the testing requirements from the NCAA was no small feat. The leadership and staff of LSSU’s College of Science and Environment were able to develop and provide saliva-based COVID-19 testing on our campus. This allowed for effective screening for all students returning to campus for Spring semester and our student-athletes to return to action sooner. It is amazing to have this type of resource at LSSU.
Despite challenges over the last year we were able to improve the student-athlete experience for many of our teams by funding some capital improvements. This was in large part due to the generosity of those that supported Laker Athletics. You can maintain this positive momentum by joining the Laker Club today. Click here to learn more and join..

Club Hockey Update
The LSSU Men’s ACHA DII team Competed against nationally ranked Adrian College (#9). While the team suffered two losses, it was a strong showing for the first year program. The team will travel this week to take on Davenport University. The team has already signed five recruits for next year, and the success of the team is resulting in a DIII ACHA program being added next year.
The women also took on Adrian College, dropping both close matchups. They then went on to compete against ACHA DI Concordia University (#8), and lost both match-ups by close scores of 2-1 and 1-0 showing they can compete with anyone early on in the program. The women’s team already has 12 new recruits signed including Maddie Hoornstra as well as a pair of local twins. Of the 12 recruits, 4 are from Sault, Ontario. The team will travel to Aquinas in a couple of weeks, followed by match-ups against Bowling Green and Adrian.
The men’s and women’s ACHA programs have been a resounding success, and will look to build on that success next season.
