LSSU Presidential Search Continues

The search for the University’s President is progressing on schedule. The Presidential Search Committee recently met and continued its multi-stage vetting process to identify candidates whose backgrounds and experiences seem especially consistent with the qualities and qualifications established for the search.  At this gathering, the search committee chose to advance a select group for confidential preliminary interviews.

The committee will meet again soon to conduct another level of evaluation and to identify a small number of semi-finalists for initial reference checking and a second set of confidential committee interviews.

Lake Superior State University Earns ABET Re-Accreditation for Engineering Technology Programs

Lake Superior State University’s Bachelor’s degree programs in Electrical Engineering Technology and Manufacturing Engineering Technology have been re-accredited by the Engineering Technology Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programs in applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology.  This re-accreditation underscores LSSU’s continued commitment to preparing tomorrow’s engineering leaders.

ABET accreditation assures that programs meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies, and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.

“ABET re-accreditation is external validation by peer evaluators of the high quality of our Engineering Technology programs,” stated LSSU’s Interim President, Dr. Lynn Gillette. “This re-accreditation affirms the excellent quality of our engineering faculty, curriculum, and facilities, and it demonstrates why we are able to provide our engineering students with an extraordinary education.”

The School of Engineering and Technology at Lake Superior State University is well-known for training impactful engineers by focusing on providing top quality education in small-size classes with hands-on learning. Faculty have developed strong ties to many industry partners such as JR Automation, Textron Aviation, and KUKA Robotics, who sponsor projects and provide input on the curriculum. Commemorating Orange Shirt Day Together

September 30th marked Orange Shirt Day.

In commemoration of this significant day, the campus community wore orange as a heartfelt tribute to the Indigenous children who attended residential schools.

LSSU gathered in spirit of hope and reconciliation, coming together to educate ourselves, pay homage to the survivors of these schools, and unite in acknowledging this painful chapter of our shared history.

Together, we pledged our unwavering commitment to reconciliation, learning and healing.
