Showcase in Psychology

On November 17th, the brilliant minds of Dr. Russell Searight's History and Systems of Psychology (PSYC 456) class showcased their knowledge through individual posters, unveiling the depths of "classic" studies in psychology.

Each poster not only brought these historic studies to life but also delved into scholarly critiques, offering a unique perspective on the evolution of psychological thought.

The interactive session also opened the floor to intriguing follow-up questions, fostering a deeper understanding of the significance behind each student's chosen study.

Our amazing NURS 432 students - Curtis Bolens, Lauren Bonds, Rachael Stoekle, Maddison Neil, Cassidy Mack, Brianna Leonard, and Cassie Maleprort - took the lead at Little Lakers Daycare, providing an educational session, teaching our preschoolers the importance of washing hands.
A big shout out to the Little Lakers staff for allowing the LSSU Nursing students to take part in these enriching educational experiences!

Lake Superior State University Professors Embark on Sabbatical Journeys

Dr. Derek Wright has been awarded a full academic year sabbatical to focus on the development of cutting-edge methods and applications in chemical imaging. His research will span diverse areas, including geologic materials, atmospheric particulate matter, cannabis rolling papers, phytoremediation studies, and the bioaccumulation of metals in fish.  Dr. Wright will collaborate with colleagues from Algoma University, LSSU, and the Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians, enriching his research with diverse perspectives.

Dr. Britt Ranson Olson is set to embark on a one-semester sabbatical, dedicating her time to advanced genomic applications. Her research will address pressing issues such as the impact of environmental contaminants on microbial diversity, bioremediation studies, and the detection of invasive species. These projects hold great significance for our region, providing LSSU students with the opportunity to engage with state-of-the-art molecular tools in their studies.

Let's wish Dr. Derek Wright and Dr. Britt Ranson Olson inspiring sabbaticals as they contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the academic excellence of LSSU!
