Bob Calverley ’65, Thousand Oaks, CA, after retiring from a career as an award-winning newspaper reporter and a writer, editor and public relations executive, Bob Calverley has written three novels: Purple Sunshine, its sequel, Sunshine Blues, and Hyperventilated Underwater Blues.

Ray Rigel ‘ 77, Marana, AZ, is now enjoying retirement.
Gregory Switek ’74, Ironwood, since retiring from their position of Director of Buildings and Grounds at Gogebic Community College, they have spent many hours building and remodeling for family and friends as well as working on their own two properties in Ironwood and Marshfield, Wisconsin. Now a grandfather of two and step grandfather of three more, he spends a fair amount of time with grandfatherly duties. Gregory likes to bicycle for exercise and recreation and spends time weekly on the Iron Belle Trail out of Ironwood. His current job is the best he’s had since graduation.

Paul Tatarchuk ’82, Mapleton, UT, in January 2021 he accepted position of Michelin Truck Tire Product customer support engineer for Utah Wyoming Nevada Washington and Idaho. He and his wife Andrea now live in Salt Lake City, UT.

Andrew Fry ’05, Elkhart, IN, My family and I do a Crayon collection every year to honor our son, Kollin Fry, who was stillborn 2/3/2011. My wife Jenica, who works as a paramedic on the hospital’s Pediatric Transport Team, came up with the idea when she saw a patient light up when they were given a box of new crayons to use during a transport, and noticed that the hospital’s “crayon stash” for moments like this wasn’t much of a stash but a few Click Here for More.

Veronica Cockrell ‘18, Wellington, New Zealand, Veronica has accepted a job as a Research Assistant at the Antarctic Research Centre out of Victoria University of Wellington in Wellington, New Zealand. Jay Cockrell (graduated from Lake State in 2017) has been continuing work on his PhD in Geophysics with a focus on paleoclimatology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy in Antarctica from Victoria University and will be graduating in 2023.
Brad Pretzer ’11, Bay City, Brad was hired as a full-time mathematics instructor at Delta College.
Eden LaTulip ’20, San Francisco, CA, in June of 2021 they started a new job as a Manufacturing Controls Engineer for Tesla. A major part of their role at Tesla involves the development of hardware interface systems that aid in data visibility and line control for the new Giga Factory in Austin Texas. They also manage two global standards and I are the project owner for the system they work on in Austin. So far their work at Tesla has taken them on an incredible journey packed with state of the art technology and great engineering experiences.
Steve MacDonald, Kalamazoo, before Steve MacDonald was a neurologist at one of the nation’s top medical centers, the Cleveland Clinic, he was a Division 2 basketball player for Lake Superior State
Yuki Miura ’21, is in his first year with the Iowa Heartlanders.
Mackenzie Miller ’21, Gowen, passed their NREMT-P exam and received their state Paramedic license. Got their first job in September part time and shortly after started as a full time Paramedic. Rewarding career and continuously learning.
Bobby Southall ’20, Eden Prarie, MN, one of the video games they have been working on for the past year at Activision Publishing, Call of Duty Vanguard, has been released. They managed to be in the credits and have their name attached to a NPC (Non-player character) in the game itself! He would like to thank his wife Genevieve Smith, his family (Josefina Southall, Bill Southall, Andrew Burnett), their co-workers at Activision, and their professors/supervisors/co-workers in the IT/CS departments at Lake Superior State University for supporting them and giving them the hands on training they needed to get to this point.
