Alana 'Chicky' Eitrem Scholarship

Sault High Class of ’84 Remembers Classmate Alana ‘Chicky’ Eitrem

A check for $900 was presented to Dr. Kathy Berchem, Dean of the College of Health & Emergency Responders, from members of the Sault High Class of 1984 to benefit the Alana “Chicky” Eitrem Scholarship at LSSU. Chicky’s close friends, Susy Talentino and Christine Groh, were honored to make the presentation. The donations were collected from fellow classmates during the Sault High Class of 1984 reunion earlier this summer to honor her memory. Chicky’s best friend in high school, Chris Groh, remarked, “Chicky found joy in giving to others. I’m so glad that our Class of ’84 could do this to show that we haven’t forgotten her.”

Alana “Chicky” Eitrem, was an LSSU nursing student from 1984-86. She was a second-year pre-nursing student who was tragically killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident in 1986. She was described as someone who made a lasting impression on all who knew her, and her kindness came through in everything she did. Her named endowment provides a scholarship to a Chippewa County high school graduate who possess the same characteristic qualities as Alana with selection based on the recommendation of the LSSU nursing faculty.
