Hello Lakers and happy fall!

I hope that everyone has enjoyed a wonderful summer! As the seasons begin to change I have been reflecting on a busy summer and looking forward to the fun and eventful year ahead.

This summer I was privileged to help with the Lake State Classic for my second year. It was a beautiful sunny day that saw a sold out event to welcome back alumni, staff and other supporters of Lake State. The golfers had tons of fun and we were able to raise money for LSSU Athletics. I hope to be able to attend again next year and meet more of our alums!

Although I was unable to attend this year, your Alumni Association also hosted their annual Lake State Day at the Tigers in August. The Tigers were able to secure a 4-0 win against the Yankees on the beautiful summer day.

Looking ahead to the fall, there are several events that I am looking forward to at Lake State. First, September 19-21 LSSU is celebrating 50 years of Women’s Athletics! Featuring an anniversary dinner, meet the teams, women’s volleyball, Munchies and Memories social gathering and more, this weekend is sure to be great fun for all! I personally am very excited about this event, as my Aunt Margaret “Mugs” Pollard will be returning to campus to celebrate this milestone anniversary with her former teammates. During her time here my Aunt Mugs played volleyball, basketball and softball and her stories of her time at LSSU were one of the driving factors in my choosing to attend university here. I can’t wait to welcome her and all the other athletes back to campus!

The weekend of October 18-19 is Great Lake State Weekend at LSSU which is always my favorite weekend of the school year. I have been heavily involved in GLSW since I was a student and always love seeing the campus alive with activities for the whole family. This year’s events will include the annual GLSW 5K Fun Run, LSSU Open House, Alumni Awards and Hall of Fame Reception, Oozeball, a pre-game tailgate, Laker Hockey and more! As a student I loved partaking in the oozeball tournament every year, a mud volleyball match which always proved to be a blast for everyone no matter the skill level.

I hope that everyone has had a wonderful year so far. I know it’s been a great year for my family and I, and we look forward to celebrating another year at Lake State and seeing all of our alumni friends back on campus. I hope that you will consider joining us for some of our fun events!
