LSSU Grad Miura Named Heartlanders Captain
Former Laker Yuki Miura '21, continues to make his mark in professional hockey, re-signing with the Iowa Heartlanders for the 2025-26 season. Miura is the only player in franchise history to skate for Iowa in every season since the team's inaugural campaign in 2021.
A Lake Superior State graduate, Miura originally joined the Heartlanders on a tryout contract before quickly establishing himself as one of the team's top players. He has worn a letter since the 2022-23 season and was named captain for the first time last season.
Miura enjoyed a career-best 2024-25 campaign, scoring a team-high 21 goals and 41 points while helping lead Iowa to its first-ever Kelly Cup Playoff appearance. He added three points in the opening round against Fort Wayne.
Now 28, Miura has become the Heartlanders' all-time leader in goals (54), assists (71) and points (125), having suited up for 251 games with the franchise. His journey from LSSU to becoming the face and captain of a professional hockey franchise is a testament to his development, perseverance and leadership.
