Great Lake State Week – October 21–24, 2026
Registration is officially open! Get ready to reconnect with your Laker family during this year’s Great Lake State Week (GLSW), a campus-wide celebration taking place October 21–24.
This year, we’ve expanded the festivities to four days of Laker traditions, competition, celebration, and fun. Things kick off Wednesday, October 21, with Battle of the Bands at the LSSU Arts Center, followed by a full slate of events throughout the week and weekend for students, alumni, families, and the entire LSSU community.
Here’s a look at some of the GLSW highlights:
- Laker Hockey vs. Bowling Green – Friday, October 23, and Saturday, October 24, with puck drop at 7:07pm both nights. Purchase tickets here!
- Laker Volleyball vs. Purdue University Northwest – Friday, October 23, and Laker Volleyball vs. Ferris State on Saturday, October 24. Purchase tickets here!
- Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony – Honoring Austin Lowes ’12, Pete Stauber ’90, Bud Denker ’80, and H. James Bourque ’56 along with Hall of Fame inductees Clayton Beddoes ’94, Maria Blazejewski ’13, Dennis Bolton ’74, and Chris Wooley ’90 – featured in this edition of the Laker Log. Please note: Tickets will not be sold at the door. We’d love to accommodate everyone, but space is limited and this event will sell out. Be sure to purchase your tickets in advance!
- Leadership in Today’s Environment: Insights from Bud Denker ’80 at Shouldice Library, Thursday, October 22 at 6:00 PM
- 5K Fun Run, CFRE Discovery Center, School of Engineering & Technology (SET) Open House, Oozeball Tournament, and more!
- Laker Pre-game Tailgate – Saturday, October 24, from 5–7 p.m., with food, games, and family-friendly entertainment, including LSSU’s own BEERBONI
