Peter DeKraker ’12, Loveland, Col., and his wife Rachel are the proud parents of Abigail Pearl DeKraker, born October 14. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 15 ounces. Pete is a detective with the Fort Collins Police Department, working in the Forensic Services Unit as a crime scene investigator.
Kyle Hunt ’12, Detroit and his wife Lea are proud to announce the birth of their son Homer J.J. Hunt on September 10th. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces.
Devon Brand ’18 and AliceAnn (Houseman) Brand were married August 10 at the Soo Wesleyan Church. The reception was held in the LSSU Cisler Center Superior Room. Devon graduated from LSSU in 2018 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and works as a tax planning specialist for Hantz Tax & Business. AliceAnn attended from 2013-2014, returned to Grand Rapids to complete her cosmetology degree, then moved back to Sault Ste. Marie and has been a stylist at A Cut Above the Rest Salon and Spa ever since. The two reside in their Sault Ste. Marie home with their dog, Sawyer.
Laura (Bofinger) Moening ’06, Sault Ste. Marie married Joe Moening August 31 on the shores of Lake Superior at Vermillion. The two had been dating about six months when they made their first big commitment to each other – volunteering to sponsor a portion of the North Country Trail. Two years later, Joe, Laura and Laura’s 15 year-old daughter, Alyvia, went out to install a mailbox on their adopted trail section, between Dick Road and Lone Pine Road. The mailbox was a place for hikers to check in, leave messages on a notebook and help themselves to granola bars. When Laura wrote a note to leave in the mailbox, she opened it and noticed someone left something in there. That something was her engagement ring. The couple were married north of the trail, on Vermilion beach, in August. Read more about their journey together. Laura is an academic assistant in the School of Engineering and Technology at LSSU. Joe is an associate professor in the same department.
Jennifer Marson '05 married Dale Reed '05 in July of 2018. Dale works as an Inside Salesman at EJ, and Jennifer is a professor at the School of Criminal Justice at Grand Valley.
Anthony Pavicic ’07, Shelby Township, married Sandra Martinez-Garcia on August 24 at St. John Vianney in Shelby Township. The reception was held at Andiamo in Warren. Anthony teaches high school business and psychology classes at Sterling Heights High School and also is head coach for cross country, girls basketball and girls track.
