Seven prominent NCAA Division I hockey playing institutions who first announced last June the exploration of a new Division I men's hockey conference that will begin play in the 2021-2022 season, have now shared that the league will be reestablished and branded as the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA). The seven member institutions include: Bemidji State University, Bowling Green State University, Ferris State University, Lake Superior State University, Michigan Technological University, Minnesota State University, Mankato, and Northern Michigan University.
Laker Athletes recieve Gliac Academic honors
The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced that 19 Lake Superior State student-athletes have been named to the Fall 2019 GLIAC All-Academic and All-Academic Excellence Teams.
10 Lakers earned GLIAC All-Academic Excellence Team honors and nine garnered All-Academic Team recognition for the fall of 2019.
Laker Athletics announces fall 2019 gpa 3.278
Lake Superior State University Athletics is proud to announce that the cumulative weighted grade point average for all student-athletes for the Fall 2019 semester is 3.278.
The achievement highlights the continued improvement in the academic side of the student-athlete experience at Lake Superior State. During the 2018-19 academic year, the Lake State student-athletes garnered a 3.155 weighted GPA. The trend improves upon the 3.084 GPA in 2016-17 and 3.056 GPA in 2015-16.
LSSU Alum Jason Kerr '18 Competes Professionally in the Vietnam Professional Golf Tour
Jason Kerr, a Lake Superior State golf alum, competed professionally in the Vietnam Professional Golf Tour West Lakes Matchplay Championship Vietnam at the West Lakes Golf & Villa on December 17-21, 2019.
Through the first round of play, Kerr posted a score of 78 which tied him for seventh overall among participants as he was +6 from the leader. In the Round of the Top 16, Kerr, who was the 10th seed, moved on after defeating Truong Quoc Phong in the round.
Max Humitz & Collin Saccoman Named Finalists for the Senior CLASS Award
Lake Superior State University men's hockey playersMax HumitzandCollin Saccomanhave been named as finalists for the 2019-20 Senior CLASS Award. Humitz and Saccoman are two of the twenty finalists among all NCAA Division I ice hockey student-athletes for this prestigious award.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition.
