Hello Lakers!
Happy back to school season to all! As we look forward to another academic year I want to reflect on an event that I attended this summer. My husband and I were lucky to be able to attend the Laker outing at the Tiger’s game in June to enjoy a beautiful afternoon of baseball, sunshine and camaraderie.
Prior to the game the LSSU Alumni Association hosted a pre-game gathering at Comerica Park. I had the opportunity to catch up with several friends, alumni and professors. One of my favorite conversations of the day was with Dr Kathy Bercham who I had the pleasure of having as a professor when I was in nursing school. It was such a nice chance to catch up on life, work, family and the like. This also reminded me of the reason that I love Lake State so much. The fact that seven years after I graduated my professors not only still remember me but also still show interest in my life and career shows just how much the staff at LSSU truly care about their students.
Although the game ended with a loss for the Tigers, we were able to enjoy a beautiful afternoon. I’ve been to several of these types of outings over the years and they are always so enjoyable. I love being able to meet with other alumni and share stories about our time at LSSU, meeting new friends and keeping in touch with my alma mater.
