50 Years of Women's Athletics at LSSU


We are excited to announce that this year we will be celebrating 50 Years of Women's Athletics at LSSC-LSSU on September 19th-21st, on the campus of Lake Superior State University in Sault Ste. Marie!

The schedule of events for the weekend has activities that both you and your family will enjoy, as we reminisce about the past!

 Start gathering your LSSC-LSSU memorabilia (photos, clothing, etc.) for a special event on Friday night – Munchies & Memories – where you can showcase your items and share cherished memories.

CCHA Reveals 2024-25 Conference Schedule


The Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) has announced its 2024-25 conference schedule, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Each full league member will play a 24-game league schedule with the addition of two non conference contests against future league opponent Augustana who will begin their first full CCHA schedule in 2025-26.

The Lakers will open up their league slate when they travel to Northern Michigan for the first two games of the Cappo Cup Series on Nov. 8-9 before returning home for a pair of games against Ferris State on the following weekend. Read more.

Laker Men's Basketball to Participate in 2024 Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic


Small College Basketball has announced the teams and matchups for the 2024 Hall of Fame Classic with the Lake Superior State Lakers being one of the ten programs to receive an invitation after their historic run to the Sweet 16.

After a fantastic 2023 Hall of Fame Classic, the 2024 event returns to Lakeland, Fla. and the Jenkins Fieldhouse on the campus of Florida Southern College. Read more.

Laker Athletics Hosts 2024 Anchor Awards


The Lake Superior State University (LSSU) Athletic Department and the LSSU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) hosted the annual Anchor Awards on Wednesday, April 24th, with the six main departmental awards voted on by the head coaches. Read more.

Three Laker Tennis Players Earn All-Conference Recognition


 Stefan Andrei (Galati, Romania), Maxence Hamon (Montreal, Que.), and Tayla Brasier (Bathurst, Australia) have received All-GLIAC recognition, as announced by the league office on Friday. Read more.

Fleming Sets New School Record at Bison Outdoor Classic


Lake Superior State (LSSU) senior javelin thrower Jenna Fleming (Hilton Beach, Ont.) has broken her own school record at the Bucknell Bison Classic on Sunday. April 14th. Read more.

Erik Richardson

Erik Richardson Named First Head Coach of LSSU's Upcoming Swim and Dive Programs


LSSU Athletics Director Tory Lindley announced the selection of Erik Richardson to coach LSSU's men's and women's swimming and diving programs. Lindley praised Richardson's experience, energy, and vision for building these teams at LSSU.

Richardson brings to LSSU two seasons of experience as the head swimming and diving coach at the University of Olivet, and previous experience as a coach at Liberty High School and the Rocky Mountain Rapids club team. Read more.
