A Visit From Seamore!

In early April 2024, LSSU alumnus Mike Willette ’08, was on his way to the hospital after work to visit his 9 year-old niece, Lizzy, who was recovering from surgery at MyMichigan Health in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.

Along the way, Mike spotted a familiar duck taking an evening swim and helping to direct freighters through the Soo Locks. He stopped and asked the duck if he wanted to come inside to take a break from the cold water to warm up. The duck accompanied Mike to the hospital to see Lizzy, who welcomed the exciting surprise!

My buddy! My buddy! Hi Seamore!” she said, wide-eyed with an even bigger smile. Seamore gifted Lizzy a hat, t-shirt, and hockey puck during the visit to help her feel better after an eventful day.

Mike expressed a big thank you to Seamore the Seaduck for taking time out of his day to put a huge smile on his niece’s face and creating a moment she’ll always remember!
