Golden Graduate Reunion includes Scholarship Award

Enjoying what has become an annual graduation tradition, a group of Sault Tech alumni were the guests in the home of LSSU president Dr. Rodney Hanley for a pre-Commencement ceremony.  New members were inducted into the Golden Graduate Society, which is open to any alumni who graduated at least 50 years ago. A majority of its members attended Lake State when it was the Sault Branch of the Michigan College of Mining and Technological/Michigan Technological University between 1946 and 1964.

This year’s event was particularly special as the Golden Grads had the great pleasure of awarding the first Golden Grad Scholarships to two outstanding students. These impressive young men are the first of what will be many LSSU students to benefit from the Golden Grad scholarship.

Many Golden Grads have celebrated being a pioneer of the University with a gift to support the scholarship fund they established in 2015. With the fund now approaching $25,000, the scholarship is nearing full endowment status. Consider a gift to help endow the fund and enable more students like Aaron and Luke to enjoy the same opportunities given to those early students at Sault Tech.
