A Great Lake State Weekend!
Hello Lakers and happy fall! I hope that this letter finds you all well. As we look forward to the upcoming holiday season, I would like to pause and take a moment to reflect on this year’s Great Lake State Weekend. This homecoming weekend is always filled with fun, camaraderie, and tons of fun events to celebrate our alma mater.
Each year I look forward to returning to campus to celebrate with fellow alumni, current students, faculty and families. This year I had the privilege to volunteer at Lake State After Hours, the Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Reception as well as the LSSU Board of Trustees Pre-Game Tailgate. At each of these events I was greeted by members of the LSSU community, past and present who were sharing their love of Lake State.
I always love to watch former classmates and teammates reunite for the first time in several years, listening to their stories about their time at Lake State and watching the joy on their faces as they reminisce on what were often the best years of their lives. GLSW always serves as a reminder about how important our years at university are in shaping us as people, how important the relationships we build during this time in our life carry on to our future, and how important the lessons we learned in the classroom guide our life goals.
I truly hope that at some point each and every Laker alumnus is able to return home to campus to stroll through their old stomping grounds, reminisce on the times they had at LSSU, and share their love for their alma mater with others. So to all of my fellow Lakers who were able to return home, welcome back and I hope you had a wonderful visit. To all of the Lakers that were unable to attend this year, please consider joining us for GLSW in the future. We would love to welcome you back home. I wish you all a wonderful holiday season.
