Lake Superior State University (LSSU) fans, alumni, and friends can now proudly display their Laker pride wherever they go, thanks to the LSSU affinity license plate program. Whether you’re cruising down the highways of Michigan or driving in a different state, you can showcase your connection to the Laker community with a special license plate that supports both the university and its alumni.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Michigan Secretary of State\u2019s Office<\/a> offers a variety of specialty fund-raising license plates<\/a>, and LSSU\u2019s plate is one of them. By purchasing a new LSSU affinity plate, you\u2019re not just sporting a stylish piece of Laker pride\u2014you’re also contributing to a good cause. For every new license plate sold, $25 is donated directly to the LSSU Alumni Association. Plus, when it\u2019s time for your plate to renew, LSSU will continue to benefit, as $10 from each renewal goes toward supporting alumni programs and services.<\/span><\/p>\n

The funds raised through this program support important initiatives like the LSSU Paul Ripley Alumni Legacy Award<\/a>, which honors the memory of a dedicated Laker while helping students pursue their academic and professional dreams. LSSU Alumni Association President, Brittany Barrett,\u201914 and \u201917, commented, \u201c<\/span>I have had a Laker license plate on my vehicle for several years now and have had numerous times when people have commented on my plate, asking me about Lake State, reminiscing about their times at the university and enjoying the mutual bond between alumni.<\/span><\/em>\u201d\u00a0 Brittany added, \u201c<\/span>While traveling, my husband and I always enjoy watching for others who have the Laker logo on their plate. Trips to the east coast, Canada, Wisconsin, and southern Michigan have all led us to find other Lakers with whom we could strike a conversation.\u00a0 I encourage anyone looking to get a new license plate to inquire about the Lake Superior State University<\/span><\/a>\u00a0addition to their plate.\u00a0 It\u2019s an easy way to show support for your school while encouraging networking and camaraderie amongst fellow alumni.<\/span><\/em>\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
