{"id":261,"date":"2018-03-11T18:36:20","date_gmt":"2018-03-11T18:36:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lakerlog.lssu.edu\/spring2018\/?p=261"},"modified":"2018-03-14T17:49:43","modified_gmt":"2018-03-14T17:49:43","slug":"calling-all-artists","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lakerlog.lssu.edu\/spring2018\/calling-all-artists\/","title":{"rendered":"Calling all Artists"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"custom-dropcap\">The Chippewa County Sunrise Rotary Club and Arts Center Gallery invite all artists to be a part of the fifth annual 5\u00d77 Art Show fundraiser by creating, submitting and, donating works on 5\u00d77 canvases. Submissions can be paintings, drawings, tiles, sculpture, fabric, 3-D artifacts, or photographs. This year\u2019s theme is, <em>Slice of Life<\/em>. The deadline for submissions is April 13.<\/p>\n<p>An exhibition of all submitted works opens with a preview reception in the LSSU Arts Center Gallery 6-8 p.m. on April 20, a sponsored event to include music, hors d\u2019oeuvres, and a wine bar. The reception will provide a first opportunity to view and purchase original works of art for only $50. Artist names will be hidden on all artwork until they are revealed at the end of the reception.<\/p>\n<p>A panel of judges will select the top three submissions. The first-place honor is $300, runner-up receives $200, and second runner-up gets $100. Recognition takes place during the preview reception. All submissions will be displayed in the LSSU Arts Center Gallery April 20 \u2013 May 31.<\/p>\n<p>Proceeds from the reception and sales will benefit Gallery exhibition programming and the Sunrise Rotary Club\u2019s mission to support local community initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>Submission registration forms and 5\u00d77 canvases are available at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lssu.edu\/arts-center\/art-gallery\/5x7-art-show\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Arts Center Gallery<\/a>,\u00a0Alberta House,\u00a0as well as at the Art Store in Sault Ste.
