Lake Superior State University\u2019s Center for Freshwater Research and Education (CFRE)<\/a> garnered additional positive momentum heading into the New Year as the Board of Directors of Central Savings Bank unanimously approved a $100,000 donation in support of the project. The State of Michigan approved a capital outlay grant of $9 million towards the $12 million project on July 1, 2016, leaving $3 million to be raised by the LSSU Foundation. The Central Savings Bank gift moves the total funds raised so far to just under $2 million, setting the stage for the remainder to be raised in 2018.<\/p>\n
