The wordsmiths at Lake Superior State University have released LSSU\u2019s 45th<\/sup>\u00a0<\/span>annual List of Words Banished from the Queen\u2019s English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The influencers in the English Department at Lake Superior State University have announced LSSU\u2019s 45th annual List of Words Banished from the Queen\u2019s English for Misuse, Overuse and General Uselessness.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese days, \u2019living your best life\u2019 is \u2018literally\u2019 impossible with \u2018influencers\u2019 making us \u2018totes\u2019 \u2018jelly,\u2019\u201d an LSSU spokesperson \u2018chirped.\u2019 \u201c\u2018I mean,\u2019 the least they could do is watch their words.\u201d<\/p>\n

OK, boomer.<\/p>\n

The Word Banishment tradition, created by the late W. T. Rabe, former public relations director at Lake Superior State University, is now in its fifth decade. For every new year since 1976, LSSU \u2014 also known for premier programs in nursing, engineering, robotics, and Great Lakes freshwater research \u2014 has issued this list.<\/a><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

After nearly two years of planning, the initial Hockey Day in the Twin Saults can be deemed a resounding success. A crowd of 3,166 witnessed the Laker hockey team clinch the team's second consecutive Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) playoff berth with a 4-1 victory over the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers.<\/p>\n

\"We relished the opportunity to bring the Twin Saults together for the day. The game of hockey has historically brought our communities together and we were able to bring the Saults together for a great hockey experience on Saturday,\" said Lake Superior State University President Dr. Rodney Hanley.<\/p>\n

The day centered around the Lakers facing off against the University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers at 7:00 p.m. at the GFL Memorial Gardens. But, the vision for the event has always been about more than the game<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

The rink, located on Pleger Commons, offers a great outdoor experience for those wishing to enjoy all that winter in the UP has to offer.\u00a0 Along with new lighting installed on Pleger Commons, this year\u2019s ice rink is sure to create some great memories for you and your friends and family to enjoy.\u00a0 We invite all LSSU students, faculty, staff and community members to enjoy this great winter tradition.\u00a0 Who knows, you may even see Seamore out there skating some laps to stay in shape?<\/p>\n

Opening Of The Cannabis Center Of Excellence For The First Cannabis Program In The United States<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Lake Superior State University and Agilent Technologies Inc. have formed a strategic relationship to facilitate education and research in cannabis chemistry and analysis establishing the Cannabis Center of Excellence (CoE). The CoE is a state-of-the-art facility aimed at a convergence of education and research across the sciences related to the rapidly expanding cannabis industry.\u00a0 This strategic partnership helps to strengthen the first program in the U.S. focused squarely on cannabis chemistry.\u00a0 LSSU is a premier training center for the next generation of quantitative chemists that possess the skills necessary to thrive in both the scientific and cannabis communities alike. Leadership of Old Mission Bank recently funded the first installment on their commitment to LSSU\u2019s Center for Freshwater Research and Education with a $25,000 check presentation<\/a>.\u00a0 President\/CEO Gary Sharp and EVP\/CEO Cathie Chenoweth presented the check to LSSU President Rodney Hanley, joined by LSSU Foundation Executive Director Tom Coates.<\/p>\n
