November Pre-Gamer on the Porch<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n
\n

November 16, 2019 featured our first Pre-Gamer on the Porch<\/a>. <\/strong>We moved the former Lukenda Alumni House hockey tailgate parties directly into Abel Arena, gathering on the concourse in the area right outside President Hanley\u2019s loft and overlooking the rink. It was a great move!<\/p>\n

November 23 Alumni Board member Katelynn Coon \u201910 and friends hosted a tailgate party in Bowling Green,<\/strong><\/a> Ohio prior to Laker hockey there.<\/p><\/div>\n\n

Senior Sendoff - December Grads<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

In December the Alumni Association hosted celebrated Senior Sendoff<\/strong><\/a>, honoring students who completed their graduation requirements in August or December. We gathered at Soo Brewing Company for great food from the Wicked Sister and Laker swag.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n <\/div>\n\n

January 25 featured our second Pre-Gamer on the Porch<\/strong> <\/a>\u2013 bigger than the first!<\/p><\/div>\n\n

On January 31 Andrew Rubenstein, Annual Fund and Athletic Development Director for the LSSU Foundation, hosted alumni & fans at the USA Hockey Arena<\/strong><\/a> in Plymouth. The day included an open skate sponsored by Kim Muir \u201994<\/strong> and Can\u2019t Skate, Can\u2019t Play, pick-up hockey, an arena tour, free pizza and Laker swag, and Laker hockey vs. the USA NTDP team!<\/p><\/div>\n\n

February 1 LSSU College Night at the Wings<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

The next day was College Night at the Red Wings<\/strong><\/a> as 300 Laker fans gathered at Little Caesars Arena to watch the Wings. Tom Coates \u201986 and Andrew Rubenstein hosted the pre-game gathering at Direct Market inside the arena.<\/p><\/div>\n\n

Basketball Alumni Reunion February 8<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Laker basketball alumni came back to campus for the annual Basketball Alumni Weekend<\/a> <\/strong>February 18. This group has a ton of camaraderie across the generations, and lots of fun! Post game, everyone gathered Moloney\u2019s Alley.<\/a><\/p><\/div>\n\n

Hockey Night in the Twin Saults Feb. 15<\/h3><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

February 15 the Lakers played in Soo, Ontario for the first time in 50 years! We took the WCHA to GFL Memorial Gardens<\/a><\/strong>, beating Alabama Huntsville 4-1 in a league contest. About 100 Laker fans from both side of the river gathered in the Angelo Bumbacco room before the game.<\/p><\/div>\n\n
