\"\"Great Lake State Weekend 2025 brought together Lakers past, present, and future on October 24\u201325 for a lively, campus-wide celebration at Lake Superior State University. For the first time, the festivities kicked off early with a week of student-focused events, giving campus a steady sense of excitement leading into the weekend. The celebration continued with a full slate of activities that honored long-standing traditions while creating plenty of new memories.<\/p>\n

A highlight of the weekend was the sold-out Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony, recognizing 11 outstanding Lakers. Alumni Award recipients Dr. Richard Gray, Dr. Christopher Merrett, and Marisa Berlinger were celebrated for their remarkable achievements, while Athletic Hall of Fame inductees Kord Cernich, Jerry Cheynet, Lee Ann (Huffman) Wise, and the 1972-1973 Wrestling team were honored for their contributions to Laker Athletics. The ceremony, a centerpiece of GLSW, is now available to <\/span>view online<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The festivities didn\u2019t stop there! The LSSU campus was alive with activities, including the Lakers hockey games against Bowling Green State University, a 21th-birthday open house for the Arts Center, the Kinesiology Club\u2019s traditional 5K Fun Run, and the pre-game Board of Trustees Tailgate Party featuring free food, drinks, games, a photo booth, face painting, bouncy houses, and the ever-popular oozeball tournament, which was a part of this event for the first time!<\/span><\/p>\n

Great Lake State Weekend is a celebration for all ages, welcoming alumni, students, parents, and friends to reconnect with the LSSU community. Mark your calendars for GLSW 2026, tentatively set for mid-October, and prepare for another weekend filled with fun, friendship, and Laker pride.<\/span><\/p>\n
